Key steps in the review process
| 1. | Each police service appointment, and the closing date for its review period, is published in the Queensland Police Gazette. |

| 2. | The Applicant faxes completed and signed 'Notice of Application to Review' form to the CPSR Secretary by the review period closing date. |
| 3. | The CPSR Secretary notifies the appointee and the QPS Reviews Inspector of the application in writing. |
| 4. | The Panel Convenor gives selection process documentation to the CPSR Secretary; CSPR Secretary gives copies to applicant, appointee, and Reviews Inspector within three weeks of the closing date of the review period. |

The Applicant sends the CPSR Secretary a written submission outlining the reasons for requesting a review, and provides copies to the appointee and the Reviews Inspector within two weeks of receiving the selection process documentation. |
| 6. | The Panel Convenor provides a written response to the submission, which is forwarded to all parties to the review, within one week of receiving the applicant's submission. |
| 7. | The Appointee provides any response to the applicant's submission to the CPSR Secretary and sends a copy to the applicant and the Reviews Inspector within one week of receiving the submission. |
| 8. | The CPSR Secretary notifies the applicant, the appointee and the Reviews Inspector of the time and date of the review hearing at least seven days in advance of the hearing. |
| 9. | The review hearing is held in person or by teleconference, depending on the location of the parties. |
| 10. | The Review Commissioner makes a recommendation to the Commissioner of Police within 10 working days of the hearing, and provides copies to the Applicant, the Appointee and the Reviews Inspector. |
| 11. | The Commissioner of Police makes the final decision about the appointment. |
| 12. | The decision is published in the Queensland Police Gazette. |
