CMC statement on Police Commissioner deadline — 06.07.2010
At this stage, the CMC has not received a request from the Police Commissioner for an extension of time nor was an application made during the hearing.
Last month a CMC report recommended disciplinary action against six officers who were involved in two police investigations relating to the Palm Island death in custody of Mulrunji.
The Police Commissioner was given 14 days to inform the CMC about his intended course of action against the officers; however, this deadline was extended until close of business today after two of the affected officers applied for an injunction.
