- Online and networked child sex offenders investigated: To date, CMC Cerberus operations have led to the prosecution of 45 criminal paedophiles on 389 charges, most recently a 51 year old man from Macleay Island for possessing and accessing child exploitation material. Read more.
- Operation Warrior nets more jail sentences: On 19 April 2012, Gold Coast-based Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang member, Brian Peters was sentenced to 7 ½ years imprisonment for trafficking, producing and supplying dangerous drugs as well as possessing explosives (fireworks). This follows the recent sentencing of Frank Ndoci to 8 ½ years imprisonment for trafficking dangerous drugs and associated serious drug offences. To date, 57 of the 70 people arrested as part of Operation Warrior have been convicted; a further person has pleaded guilty on all charges and is awaiting sentencing. Read more.
- Assessing organised crime threats to Queensland: The CMC has begun preparing our three-five yearly strategic intelligence assessment of the main organised crime threats to Queensland for circulation to law enforcement agencies around Australia. Unclassified versions of the reports will be available to the public towards the end of 2012. Read more.
- Regional judges forum on financial crimes: Sharing our expertise in recovering the proceeds of crime, the CMC presented to judges from across the Pacific region at the recent Corruption and other Financial Crimes Commonwealth Secretariat Pacific Judges Regional Forum. Read more.
- Weapons-related offences: Since being granted a new 'general referral ' in July 2011 enabling us to fast-track investigations into weapons-related crime, 5 operations regarding weapons and weapons-related crime have been referred to us. To date, we have held investigative hearings in Brisbane and Rockhampton, with 31 witnesses attending to give evidence. Read more about how crime matters come to us.
- CMC restrains $12m worth of assets in alleged Queensland Health fraud case: The CMC has obtained several Supreme Court restraining orders over assets valued at approximately $12 million in a civil confiscation case against former Queensland Health employee, Hohepa Hikairo Morehu-Barlow.
