Human Resources Manager, CMC

The Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) is an independent Queensland statutory authority that contributes to the fight against major crime and promotes integrity in the public sector.

The Human Resources Manager is a key role in the CMC, providing strategic advice and leadership on human resource management and development matters to all levels of management. The person appointed will also be required to assist in developing, implementing and reviewing workforce capability strategies to achieve the Commission’s priorities and strategic outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • have significant knowledge of, and expertise in, human resource management, preferably in a public sector environment
  • have proven success in managing client relationships
  • have highly developed conceptual and analytical skills
  • have highly developed written and interpersonal communication skills
  • be able to plan, negotiate and deliver projects to achieve agreed results

Deputy Director,
Crime and Public Policy

The Research and Prevention Unit of the CMC conducts research and prevention activities to support the CMC’s key functional areas of Crime and Misconduct. In addition, the unit conducts research into policing and police service methods, and a range of other public policy areas referred to the CMC by the minister or by Parliament.

The Research and Prevention Unit comprises a Directorate and two programs: one focusing on Misconduct and Policing research and prevention activities; the other on Crime and Public Policy research and prevention activities.

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to assist the Director in the role of Deputy Director, Crime and Public Policy.

In this senior position you will be a key member of the Research and Prevention management team and will contribute to the work of the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Crime. You will be required to liaise with senior officers and other staff of the CMC and Queensland public sector agencies.

You will also be required to supervise Research and Prevention staff and consultants engaged from time to time to undertake research and prevention activities within the Crime and Public Policy program.

This role will offer many opportunities to contribute to the unit’s strategic direction.

Business Analyst
Directorate, Information Management

Our Information Management section is seeking a Business Analyst to provide specialised analytical and organisational support to assist the CMC’s Information Management (IM) function successfully address its wide-ranging governance, compliance and project activities.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • tertiary qualification(s) and/or formal training relevant to the duties of the position within the CMC’s IM function (not a mandatory requirement)
  • demonstrated research, analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to identify effective solutions to complex and unstructured problems.
  • strong understanding of both organisational and information management governance requirements in a public sector environment including familiarity with government information standards, planning and performance measurement
  • demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the principles of structured project management and proven experience in planning, managing and participating in small to medium projects
  • sound understanding of the challenges faced in providing information and communications technology and records management infrastructure and services in a public sector environment
  • proven high level written and oral communication skills, including the ability to liaise, negotiate, and consult with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • strong technical skills in respect of standard desktop software including all Microsoft Office products, flowcharting software such as Micrografx FlowCharter and reporting software such as Crystal Reports
  • demonstrated personal qualities embracing a positive attitude, high energy and innovation

Senior Investigator, Misconduct
$84 828 – $90 959

We are seeking an investigator to conduct investigations into allegations of serious, complex and sensitive misconduct by officers in public sector agencies, including the Queensland Police Service. To be selected for this position, you will have experience analysing and investigating complex matters as an investigator, in a law enforcement agency or within the public sector, as well as good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Analytical and investigative skills in complex matters, using investigative techniques and technologies and providing significant specialist contribution to investigations.
  • Ability  to coordinate and manage complex investigations, demonstrated by substantial experience as an investigator in a law enforcement agency or within the public sector.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and oral communication skills including ability to negotiate effectively, conduct investigative interviews and operate as an effective team member.
  • High level of written communication skills including ability to prepare detailed reports, briefs of evidence and correspondence dealing with complex issues.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of criminal or administrative law and its application.
  • A knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of the Crime and Misconduct Act 2001 and other relevant legislation and the Commission’s policies and procedures.

Principal Legal Officer
$89 899 – $95 082 (P06)

If you have tertiary qualifications in law and have been admitted, or are eligible for admission, as a barrister or solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland, and have relevant experience as a senior lawyer, you may be interested in an opportunity to make an important contribution to our Misconduct investigations, complaints-handling and monitoring activities.

The successful applicants will provide high quality professional legal advice, lead and manage other legal staff, prepare complex reports and liaise with key stakeholders.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Admission or eligibility for admission as a barrister or solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
  • A High level knowledge of criminal or administrative law and its application
  • A detailed knowledge, or ability to rapidly acquire a detailed knowledge, of the Crime and Misconduct Act 2001 and other relevant legislation and the Commission’s policies and procedures.
  • Highly developed analytical skills in the arrears of complex legal and factual issues to make quality decisions and judgements.
  • Well developed written communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefs of evidence,  detailed reports and correspondence addressing sensitive and complex legal, and factual issues.
  • Demonstrated skills in leading and managing staff, including providing guidance, support, strategic direction, training, professional development, performance feedback and counselling.
  • Substantially developed interpersonal and oral communication skills including the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, to liaise and consult effectively with other officers in the Commission and with external stakeholders.
