CMC refers report on officer found guilty of assault to QPS for action

A CMC investigation has resulted in a police officer being found guilty of assaulting a man during an incident in Adelaide Street in July 2007.

Constable Michael Anthony O’Sullivan, 36, appeared in the Brisbane Magistrate's Court and was found guilty of attacking Christopher Ahovelo with his police baton. Ahovelo had earlier been sprayed with capsicum spray.

O’Sullivan was fined $700 (in default eight days imprisonment with 28 days to pay). No conviction was recorded.

A report will be forwarded to the Ethical Standards Command of the Queensland Police Service to consider disciplinary action.
