Accountability and leadership
Accountability
The CMC is a statutory body, independent of the government of the day but answerable to the people of Queensland through the Parliamentary Crime and Misconduct Committee (PCMC) — an all-party parliamentary committee that monitors and reviews our activities and deals with complaints against us.
As we operate within Queensland’s justice portfolio, the Honourable Jarrod Bleijie MP, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, is the minister currently responsible for the allocation of our budget. We report to him on our efficiency, effectiveness, economy and timeliness.
Three-yearly review of the CMC
On 20 May 2011, the PCMC began its three-yearly review of all our activities. The purpose of the review is to help Parliament decide if the Crime and Misconduct Act 2011 or any of our functions, powers or operations need to be amended.
The PCMC invited comments from all interested Queenslanders and conducted public hearings in November 2011. Read the submissions, hearing transcripts and media releases on the PCMC website: Three Year Review of the Crime and Misconduct Commission 2011.
